Welcome to the Anicon Reviews Blog

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Anicon Reviews Blog! This is the editorial and experience blog for Anicon Network. This blog has been something that I’ve wanted to start for about eight years now, but better late than never! This post will serve as the introduction to Anicon Reviews and the Anicon Reviews Blog.

What is Anicon Reviews?

Anicon Reviews is a “brand” that we thought of back in 2017 when we started traveling around the country to different anime conventions. Our focus has always been to help show our Anime Convention experiences through media. The name Anicon Reviews comes from combining Anime and Convention (Anicon) and we decided to use Reviews at the time as we though we would be ranking conventions.

Most of the crew is based in New Jersey. A lot of us started going to local conventions like Anime NEXT or Castle Point Anime Convention in New Jersey. In 2017, a bunch of us decided we were going to start traveling and exploring other conventions. We started off by going to Anime Boston in the Spring of 2017. Things started to escalate quickly when we decided to fly across the country to California for Anime Expo (and a crazy adventure that was…). From there, the rest was history. In 2017, we went to Anime Boston, Anime Expo, Otakon, New York Comic Con, and Anime NYC.

In 2018 was when we spun up the different social media pages for Anicon Reviews. We started our Instagram and Twitter pages for our first convention of 2018, Otakon Vegas.

As time went on, we also started attending other conventions, like sci-fi events, comic cons, cosplay specific events, and gaming events. We are going to cover more than just anime conventions here, but we’ll make sure we categorize all our posts so you can find what you came here to see.

Many years and posts later, we are finally spinning up the Anicon Reviews blog and Anicon Network YouTube channel (check it out if you haven’t already). In the future, we’ll explain the move of some our pages to “Anicon Network”, but for now, all you need to know is Anicon Reviews is part of the Anicon Network family.

So who is writing on this blog?

Oh hi. I’m Jan. I also go by JccJcat on the internet. A lot of the posts you’ll see here, as well as most of our social media posts are by me. I absolutely love traveling and I love anime conventions, so traveling to different anime conventions are what help me satisfy both those hobbies. You’ll probably learn more about me through the different posts here, so I won’t bore you with all the details here.

With that being said, you may have noticed I started this blog in plural first person (we). For a lot of the posts, you’ll probably see more “I” pronouns since I will be posting from my perspective, but Anicon Reviews is a group of friends, so you may see some other names or perspectives pop up as time goes on.

What can we expect on this blog?

Good question! I’m still figuring this whole written format, but at the least expect thoughts on different events, coverage on changes to different conventions, and reviews of the events we attend. Also expect guides, tips, related-but-sorta-off-topic posts, and even story time posts. I’m sure things will be clearer as we move along, but if oyu’re interested in Anime Conventions, that will definitely be on this blog.

Alrighty! That was the non-so-short introduction to the Anicon Reviews Blog. I hope you all are looking forward to this project starting up as I am. If you have any feedback for me or the team, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m always looking for ways to improve. Anywho, here is Anicon Reviews. We’ll see you on the next post.
